Now that Spring is in the air (or at least on the calendar!), it is time for picnics.
Whether it is a shopping bag full of gourmet groceries with wine like Natalie's done in Napa Valley or a "hobo" picnic with sandwich and chips.....get outside and EAT!!!

Rouxsters

I realized I should identify "the baby" referred to in previous posts. He is a Rouxster, the precious product of one of Roux's memorable wedding couples....do you have a Rouxster to share with us? This one is named Trace and is loved by many. He is always smiling!
Email or facebook pictures of your Rouxster with us!!!

Baptism Luncheon

In the good ole Southern tradition, we recently had a Baptism Luncheon for "the baby"! Yes, the baptism was for the baby, but the luncheon was for us!

There was peach glazed ham, Peg's Layered Salad, Potato Salad, Mini Chicken Salad Croissants, Deviled Eggs, mimosas, cake and ice cream......all that for us while the baby had a bottle!

We start 'em young at Roux's!

Robert's little cousin Trace came downtown yesterday to watch the St. Patrick's Day parade, but it ended up raining so he decided to come into Roux's and stay dry. No one just hangs out at Roux's, everyone works! So Robert took him into the kitchen to see what he could do....there was some napping, some cooing and a few smiles. And don't worry, we kept him away from the chefs' sharp knives who seemed intimidated by this new little chef in training!
He will be a server or a carver for Roux's Catering as soon as he learns how to walk!

In Honor of All Things GREEN!

Here at Roux's we try to do our part to be GREEN. We saw this T-shirt on a waiter in Vegas and knew it had to come home with us to share with all of you and what better day to be green than St. Patrick's Day.

We do our fair share to "Save Water.....Drink Margaritas" because we love relaxing at our beloved Mexican restaurants in Augusta, sipping beer and Margaritas while indulging in a bowl a of cheese dip and catching up with our family and friends! One of our very own even has her own Margarita machine that runs tirelessly at the lake during the hot summer months.

Seriously though, we do love our Earth and encourage everyone to take care of her and do their part to be GREEN! Happy St. Patrick's Day!

What happens in Vegas, doesn't stay in Vegas!

The last billboard I saw on my way to the Vegas airport to fly home said: Remember what happens here, stays here! Well, not this trip....we went to a huge, elaborate catering conference in Vegas and are bringing back a ton of new ideas for event design, food presentation and even some new twists on some old favorites to share with you.

We'll incorporate the food ideas by updating many of our popular menus that are enjoyed by guests at wedding receptions, corporate events and the myriad of events that we cater. And believe me, I wish the pounds I gained from all the tasting we did had "stayed in Vegas"! Not only did we taste food all day, we enjoyed many drinks, appetizers and meals as we roamed the strip. My favorite meal was actually a mid-morning snack from La Creperie, which was the obvious choice, a crepe....filled with peanut butter and bananas! Followed by wine and cheese at Mon Ami Gabi.....and later that night we went off the strip for authentic Mexican cuisine at Lindo Michoacan. As for the yummy and fun new food ideas....you'll have to wait and check those out on our menus at www.rouxscatering.com!!!
The picture above is not one of us....but it is a Live Champagne Chandelier that featured a showgirl suspended from the ceiling pouring the champagne. I asked her how the blood wasn't rushing to her head and she told me she was a professional....well excuse me! We'll add this to our menu if we have any "professionals" around here!!
